LEAVINGS
Leavings began in Ft Greene Park in the summer of 2020 as a way to bring a little sparkle to the dark times brought about by COVID, quarantine, police violence and political unrest. These beaded and bedazzled leaves were left behind in trees for anyone to find. Over 100 leaves, constructed of wire, metal, beads, sequins, foil, paint, and holographic tape were hung throughout the park over several months – many hidden by the tree’s lush green leaves and later revealed as winter approached.
Leavings was inspired by Eric Rhein’s Leaves series honoring individuals who died of complications from AIDS.
ALL THAT GLITTERS…
Public installation for Art in Odd Places 2009: SIGN. Twelve gilded safety cones placed along 14th Street between 11th Avenue and Avenue A. These golden cones – installed after the crash of the financial market – are caution signs of false treasure. The work was produced by borrowing safety cones from various sites, taken to my studio to be covered in gold leaf, then returned to their locations.
BATHROOM ETIQUETTE
Site-specific installation of instructional plaques installed in public bathrooms, addressing cis heteronormative anxieties and homophobia in public settings.
